After 43 years in youth basketball, I am thrilled to have this opportunity to share with you the excitement, competition, and skill level of the Biddy Basketball experience. Biddy Basketball is the best tool for the developing our youth in this great sport. The size of the balls, the height of the goals and the distance of the free throw lines are modified to fit our young athletes. Not only are there two smaller sizes of balls, but the goals are set at 8 1/2 feet for the 7 through 10 year olds and at 9 feet for the 11 and 12 year olds. These simple, but significant modifications, permit the players to develop their ball handling skills and learn the fundamentals of the total game -- offense, defense, dribbling, rebounding, passing, and shooting. The young athlete can shoot and jump shoot the ball into the goal -- not just throw the ball at the goal.

The Biddy Basketball system provides an excellent feeder program for the high school and college level. It prepares and teaches the skills necessary to compete at that higher level.

For the young sportsman, Biddy's greatest asset is the competition that it offers. There are over 20,000 boys and girls playing in 300 Biddy leagues across the states, Puerto Rico, Finland, and Canada. Advancing through the District, Regional, and International Championships motivates these young athletes to excellence -- to be the very best that he or she can be.

Biddy Basketball is one of the strongest competitive programs in the world for youth athletes. It is not the score that counts, for the score is usually forgotten. But the labor and struggle to excel, teaches these players valuable skills and lessons which will stay with them for life.
